Information for Incoming Students
IGSA typically kicks start the process of temporary accomodation atmost one-and-half to two months before the orientation date of the incoming students.
A database will be created for this purpose in the official yahoo group for the incoming students of that semester/year(For eg., JHU-Fall2010)
Once the table has been created, the link will posted in many/all active JHU incoming students' e-groups/communities and a message will be sent to the yahoo group hosting the table.
It is YOUR responsibility to update the database with your details, delaying which would give lesser time to IGSA members to arrange for your pickup/temporary accomodation.

Fill in the table with your date and time of arrival, need for temporary accomodation and other relevant information requested in that table.
Do NOT fill in your details unless you have CONFIRMED your flight booking for your travel to BWI.
IGSA has discontinued the pickup policy from this year as very few senior students usually volunteer and there is no guarantee involved at any stage of the process.
Note: If you are NOT coming to JHU before the start of the fall/spring semester, but in some other time of the year, the above mentioned procedure may not be followed. In that case, please post a message in the IGSA yahoo group and/or the above mentioned yahoo group.
Alternative options to reach Baltimore from BWI International Airport
T
hough the airport is quite far off from the JHU area, the ground transportation to reach the JHU area from the BWI airport is very good and affordable.
Listed below are the alternative options to reach the JHU area from the BWI airport.
- Super shuttle
- Airport Taxi
Super Shuttle is a shared-ride airport shuttle which serves for the travel to and from the airport. It picks you up from the airport, you can book it online; and drops at the specified address at the time of booking.It costs around $20-25 for the whole trip. They baggage allowance is same as the baggage allowance of international airlines. Reservation can either be done online or booked after landing at BWI, the latter being the mostly recommended one.You can find more details in their website.
Airport Taxi
This is the taxi service to and from the BWI airport. A shared taxi might work out cheaper than Super Shuttle for 3-4 people, though one taxi MAY NOT be able to accomodate more than 3 people's baggage. More details in their website.
