Dunning Hall
Dunning Hall, located directly behind Remsen Hall, was built
between 1964-66 and named in honor of the Dunning family: Henry
A. B. Dunning, president of Hynson, Westcott, and Dunning, Inc.,
the pharmaceutical manufacturing company which developed
Mercurochrome, and his three sons, all of whom graduated from
Hopkins with PhDs in chemistry: J.H.
Fitzgerald Dunning (trustee
1960-81), Henry A. B. Dunning, Jr., and Charles A. Dunning.
Dunning Hall houses chemistry laboratories.
J. H. Fitzgerald Dunning provided the funds to
establish Dunning Park in a wooded area on the north end
of campus in 1966. When the new biology complex was constructed
on the site of the park in 1976, it was moved farther north, next
to the Newton H. White, Jr. Athletic
Center. Dunning Park was rededicated on the this new site in
1983, and is the home of the Bufano
Sculpture Garden.
