Saturday, September 6: Ice Cream Social: 2:00 pm in AMR MPR

Tuesday, September 23, 5:00 pm:  Gerneral meeting, Laverty Lounge. Guest speaker Dawna Milligan, Associate Director of the JHU Career Center will be discussed resumes and internships. Free Pizza and drinks.

Friday, October 3, 5:30 pm: Social dinner at Rocky Run!

Saturday, October 4th:  SWE volunteers talk to prospective students at Engineering and Natural Sciences Open House:  8:30 - 9:30 am in Shriver Hall, 11:30 - 1:15 in Levering 

Thursday, October 30, 5:30 pm: Professor Busch-Vishniac discussed various topics ranging from graduate school to getting an internship. As always, there was plenty of pizza and drinks to go around. 

Friday, Novermber 7, 5:30 pm: SWE social, dinner and a movie (Finding Nemo or Legally Blonde 2).

November 19, 12:30-3:00 pm: Outreach, SWE goes to Fredrick County middle school to talk with an engineering club.

Tuesday, December 9, 5:00 pm:  General meeting with a panel of young women from Northrup Grumman.

Tuesday, February 17 at 7:00:  General meeting over dessert at Sweet Retreat.

March 5-7:  The SWE regional conference  at UMBC.

March 22, 2004:  Mock Interview Night hosted by the Society of Engineering Alumni: 7 pm in AMR I. Free dinner, interaction with engineering alumni, met with professionals who conduct interviews in the business world, got helpful interviewing tips and tricks, etc.

April 15, 2004 at 6:00 PM :  Ice cream social/meeting in Laverty Lounge. Free ice cream and interaction with other female engineering students. 

April 23-25: SPRING FAIR: Every year we do a booth in the kids section to teach young children about engineering.  We had a bunch of gumdrops and toothpicks and had the children build what they could out of them.  

April 27, 2004 at 6:00 PM: Annual SWE Networking Dinner in the Glass Pavillion. Many local professionals and facualty have been invited.  Our speaker was Susan Suskin, VP of Abacus Technology.   FREE caterered dinner.

Thursday, September 12: Ice Cream Social: 7:00-8:30 pm in Laverty Lounge

Saturday, September 15: Join SWE for the second annual Taste of Baltimore at Camden Yards ! This was an excellent opportunity to not only sample the restaurants of Baltimore, but to also get familiar with Baltimore's somewhat confusing public transit. We left Hopkins at 1:55 pm behind Shriver Hall via the shuttle to Penn Station to then take the Light Rail to Camden Yards. More details can be found on the website: http://www.tasteofbaltimore.com/

General Meeting Wednesday, October 2nd, 5 pm: General meeting where Dr. Jennifer Elisseeff spoke about her research. As always, meeting was complemented with free pizza.

SWE sells Engineering T's at party: 87 Hopkins Engineering T-shirts sold by SWE at the engineering pizza party

SWE sells more Hopkins Engineering T-shirts, October 19: SWE sells the Hopkins Engineering T-shirts at the Engineering and Natural Sciences Open House on Saturday, October 19th from 8 in the morning to 1:30 in the afternoon. This was a joint effort with Tau Beta Pi, so the two groups made some extra cash and shared the profits!

Thursday, October 24: Nine SWE members went to Rocky Run for a little study break and dinner. A fun time was had by all. Keep an eye out for more social events in the future!!

Tuesday, October 29, and more t-shirts: SWE was out again selling, October 29th from 9 am to 1 in front of Shaffer.

Friday, November 8th: SWE goes out to dinner to Niwana's.

General Meeting, Thursday, Novermber 14: A great talk from Dr. Rebecca Freeman Grais spoke. Dr. Grais works at the National Institute of Health (NIH) and she received her B.A., M.A., M.S. and PhD from JHU. She is now a guest researcher at the Fogarty International Center at NIH where she does mathematical modeling of infectious disease transmission. As always there was pizza and drinks .

SWE-BWS Junior Girl Scout Badge Day on Saturday, November 16, 2002: SWE-BWS Junior Girl Scout Badge Day at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, Maryland.

Tuesday, November 26, and yet more t-shirts: SWE was out once again selling the Hopkins Engineering T-shirts (and long sleeve shirts right in time for the holidays!) in front of Shaffer on Tuesday, Nov. 26th from 9 am to 12 noon.

SWE Study Break, Wednesday, December 17, 2002: Holiday Study Break with SWE in Laverty Lounge went from 5 to 6:30 PM break. Took off from studying for a bit while munching on some yummy holiday snacks!

General Meeting, Thursday, February 13: Our first meeting of spring semester at 5:00 pm in Laverty Lounge. Our Faculty Advisor, Dr. Okamura, from the Mechanical Engineering Dept spoke to us.

Sunday, February 23rd: Ice skating plans cancelled due to weather conditions, but instead SWE had Brunch at the Inner Harbor at California Pizza Kitchen from 1 to 3 pm.

Monday, February 24th:Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society), SWE (Society of Women Engineers) and Eta Kappa Nu (Electrical and Computer Engineering Honor Society) hosted TUTORING NIGHT from 6pm to 8pm in Maryland Hall. Free Chinese food and tutoring in Engineering and math courses.

General meeting at 5 pm in Laverty Lounge. Discussed the final preparations for the Networking Dinner, creative project ideas for our Outreach Program, etc. Sweet snacks were served.

Wednesday, March 26th: Networking Dinner at 6 pm in Great Hall. To all of you who came out to SWE's Networking Dinner, Thanks! We hope you enjoyed the dinner and had an opportunity to learn and network with professionals.

March 28 to 30th, 2003 The SWE Regional Conference was in Virginia! The theme, "Pressing Forward While Reaching Back", was chosen to highlight women attaining success while reaching back to help engineering students and new engineers. This was the first combined professional and student member Mid-Atlantic Region Conference.

April 10 and April 15: SWE was at the Student Activities Expo Open House for Accepted Students on both April 10 and 15 from 3 to 4 pm in the glass pavillion.

Friday, April 11: SWE Social at One World Cafe

Thursday, April 17: SWE General Body Meeting will be at 5 pm in Laverty Lounge. Our guest speaker was Dr. Lester Su, assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at JHU. Dr. Su has served as a Congressional Science Fellow in Washington. He discussed how engineers can contribute to public policy and issues such as workforce diversity. Pizza and drinks served.

April 25-27: At the annual Hopkins Spring Fair, SWE had a booth where children where able to construct structures from gumdrops and toothpicks.
