Save time! Refill you birth control pills,
OrthoEvra patches, and
NuvaRings online!
This convenient service is available only to
currently enrolled Hopkins students
who routinely receive their reproductive health care at
the Johns Hopkins University Health and
Wellness Center. You must be up-to-date with your annual gynecological exams
(within the last 12 months) to utilize this service.
If you are planning to be seen at the SHWC by
your regular provider around the same time that you need to refill your birth
control, please do not use the online system. Since your regular provider
knows you, he/she can complete your request more effectively than can be done
through the online system. When you schedule your appointments, be sure to
tell the receptionists that you will need birth control refills.
We can refill your birth control pills, OrthoEvra patches, and NuvaRings online. Allow 2 business days for the processing of your prescription. Please check your email before picking up your prescription, in case we have emailed you with questions or concerns. You may pick up your filled prescription from the front desk during regular office hours. When you arrive at the Health & Wellness Center, be sure to tell the front desk that you are there to pick up your online refill. (NuvaRings are kept refrigerated so please tell the receptionist it is a refrigerated prescription.) Note: Your student account will be billed for the full cost of your prescription if it is not picked up after 10 business days. Also, you must pick up and pay for all the pills/rings/patches you requested with the original order. You cannot change the quantity of your refill at the time you pick up your order.
For students with school insurance:
The JHU school insurance year runs from August 15th of one year to August 15th of the next. Insurance covers a total of 13 refills. If you have exceeded your 13 refills or you have not renewed your insurance coverage, you must pay full price for any remaining refills.
Before you request refills, please check the current birth control prices now by clicking
HERE.
Since we are not a licensed pharmacy, we can only provide
contraceptives to students who are under our care; we cannot fill
prescriptions from outside physicians.
If you are just starting to use birth control pills, the patch or
the ring, you must make one follow-up visit before you can use the
online system. This gives us the opportunity to make sure that you are
using the method correctly and that you are not having any serious
side effects.
If you have a concern or health-related
question, please make an appointment to see a health care provider.
Instructions:
Please fill out the form
completely. Press the submit button when you are done. Failure to fill all the
required fields may delay processing of your prescription. Please note
that by filling out this form, you are giving us permission to email you
back, if necessary.
Because of new laws protecting the privacy of health information that
became effective April 20, 2005, all Student Health and Wellness Center
emails to students must be encrypted. Therefore you must provide us
with your JHU email address. We will no longer be able to accept online refill
requests if you do not include your JHU email address.
Because of the volume of requests we receive, we are unable to notify
students individually when their refills have been processed. If you
wish to verify the status of your order, you may call the SHWC. Remember
that it may take 2 full business days (Saturday, Sundays, and Holidays
not included) to complete your request.
