OFF CAMPUS

ASSAULT AND ATTEMPT ROBBERY

 

WHERE:

 

30th and Charles Sts.

 

 

 

WHEN:

 

1:00 AM Thursday  – October 28, 1999

 

 

 

HOW:

 

Graduate student struck on the back of his head with a brick.  Assailant then attempted to remove the victim's wallet.

 

 

 

WANTED:

 

 

 

Black male, mid-late 20s, 6', 120lbs., medium complexion, short hair, clean-shaven, multicolored winter jacket, blue jeans.

 

 

Graduate student, walking alone, south Charles St. at 30th St. passed the above described male who was walking northbound.  Assailant hit the victim on the back of the head with brick and attempted, unsuccessfully, to remove the victim's wallet.  The victim threw off the attacker who fled east on 30th St. HERU responded.  Student was transported to Union Memorial and released at 2:45am.  Area searched by Police to no avail.

 

 

Use Hopkins Security Escort Services at night.  Be aware of your surroundings. Avoid any person or vehicle which seems suspicious, especially in the early morning hours. Anyone unfamiliar who approaches you at night along a deserted street should be regarded with suspicion.

If confronted by an armed person it is better to surrender property than to risk serious injury.  Contact Security (516-7777) or Police (911) immediately.
