On-Campus 

 

ARREST - Bicycle Theft / CCTV Monitoring - Bike Rack on east side of Hackerman Hall - On Sept. 16th at 10:28 AM, a male suspect forcefully pulled a bicycle loose from the bike rack and rode away on it.  The suspect dropped the bicycle after being observed by officers at 34th Street and ran south on Hargrove Street.  Campus officers in company with Baltimore Police units detained him at 32nd and Hargrove Streets.  Baltimore Police then took the suspect into custody. He was given a trespass warning.  The bicycle was recovered.

 

Theft - MSE Library Q-Level - Sept. 16th at 1150 AM, a junior undergraduate placed his IPhone 4 on top of a snack vending machine and went outside, leaving the phone behind. On returning for it minutes later, the phone was gone. Investigation continuing.

 

Off-Campus

 

Bicycle/Auto Accident (Non-Affiliate Injured) - 33rd Street and St. Paul Street - On Sept. 17th at 6:42 PM, a non-affiliated female traveling eastbound on her bicycle struck the side of a stopped car. The victim appeared to have minor injuries. Baltimore Police responded.

 

Theft of Cell Phone - 3100 Blk. N. Calvert St. (west side) - On Sept. 19th at approximately 8:04 PM, a female non-affiliate was walking northbound on the west side of the 3100 block of N. Calvert Street talking on her cell phone when a male suspect who was walking southbound on the same side of the street snatched her cell phone from her hand and ran away. The suspect was last seen running south on N. Calvert Street. The non-affiliate was not injured. Baltimore Police and Campus Security canvassed the area for the suspect with negative results. The victim stated the theft happened so fast she could not provide a description of the suspect. A witness described the suspect as a black male, no further description. Investigation continuing.

 

Theft from Auto - 100 Blk. W. University Parkway (north side) - On Sept. 15th at 6:00 PM, a JHMI affiliate parked her vehicle at this location with a GPS unit located on the dash of the vehicle. On Sept. 20th at 8:30 PM, she returned and discovered the side window of the vehicle had been broken and the GPS unit was missing. Baltimore Police were notified. Investigation continuing.

 

Pedestrian / Auto Accident (Minor Injury to Student) - E. 33rd Street and N. Calvert Street, north side - On Sept. 20th at 9:52 PM, a JHU undergraduate was walking eastbound  at this location crossing Calvert St. when she was struck on the arm by the passenger side mirror of a westbound minivan as it made a right turn onto N. Calvert Street. The driver of the minivan stopped at the scene. Baltimore Police and an ambulance responded. The student declined treatment and was transported to her dorm by a campus officer.

 

Burglary - 300 Blk, E. University Pkwy, 3rd floor - On Sept. 21st at 11:00 PM, a JHU undergraduate left his 3rd floor room and went to the 1st floor to join a group of friends. At 6:00 AM on Sept. 22nd, the undergraduate went back to his 3rd floor room and noticed his air conditioning unit had been removed from his window and was placed on the fire escape. The undergraduate's laptop computer, I-pad and phone charger were missing from his room. Baltimore Police responded. Investigation continuing.

 

 

When traveling at night use the Blue Jay Shuttle service at 410-516-8700.  Blue Jay Shuttle Vans are operational from 5:45 PM to 4:00 AM.
