Campus Safety and Security
July 14, 2008 – July 21, 2008
On Campus
Thefts – AMR I and AMR II – Between June 26th
at 8:00 AM and July 15th at 3:00 PM, currency, two cell phones and a
digital camera were removed from several rooms. Investigation
continuing. (Reported to Security on July 16th.)
Off Campus
Assault by Threat – BIA Field – On July 16th
between 2:25 PM and 2:33 PM, during a lacrosse practice, a male, 17-18 years
old, drove a motorbike through a group of players. After being struck by
a ball, the male threatened the employee who tossed the ball. The male drove south through the woods. Campus
Officers searched the area to no avail. No injuries.
ARREST – Attempt Bicycle Theft / CCTV Observation –
Unit Blk. E. University Pkwy., Shuttle Stop Bike Rack – On July 19th
at 10:11 PM, a male was observed on CCTV attempting to cut a cable lock from a
bike secured to the Shuttle Stop bike rack. Campus Officers were
dispatched to location and stopped the suspect at the Shuttle Stop. Found
near the bike in question was bag a containing a cutting tool and
hacksaw. The suspect was arrested by off-duty Baltimore Police working
for JHU and was charged with Rogue & Vagabond, Possession of Burglary Tools
and Attempt Theft.
Burglary – Private Residence 300 Blk. E. 33rd
Street – Between July 19th at 11:00 PM and July 20th
at 11:15 AM, Think Pad, IPod, movie DVDs, two Play Stations, two schoolbags and
items of frozen food were taken from the first floor living room and kitchen of
an undergraduate’s residence. No signs of forced entry, residence
possibly left unlocked. Baltimore Police were notified. Investigation continuing.
Assault Following Dispute (Alcohol Related) – PJ’s Pub, 3333 N. Charles St. – On July 20th
at 1:45 AM, a senior undergraduate reports being assaulted by an employee after
the student refused to leave the bar when requested. Baltimore Police
responded. The student declined medical treatment for minor injuries.
Theft – 200 Blk. Homewood Terrace – On July 19th
at 1:25 PM, three unknown males took two cell phones and a twenty-dollar bill
from an employee’s unattended purse which had been left on top of a parked
vehicle. When the owner returned for the purse, the suspects threw same
down and fled on foot. Campus officers and Baltimore Police
responded. The area was searched with negative results. Investigation continuing.
Attempt Theft from Auto –
REMINDERS
When traveling at night use the Security Department’s escort service
at 410-516-8700. Security Escort Vans are operational from 5:00 PM
to 3:00AM.
During exam week an Escort Van will also be running from 3:00 AM to
7:00 AM as a service to students studying on campus.
