On Campus

Thefts:

  • Whitehead Hall – Two incidents were reported of currency taken from an affiliate’s unattended purse in an unlocked office.  The first incident occurred between May 11th at 11:00 PM and May 12th and the second was on June 2nd between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM.  In both incidents, the currency was removed from a zipper section inside the employee’s purse.  No other property was disturbed.  Investigation continuing.
  • Homewood Field – On June 3rd between 9:15 PM and 9:55 PM, a graduate student’s book bag was taken while she was jogging.  The student’s cell phone and wallet, less $25 in currency, were found by another jogger.  Investigation continuing.

 

Theft from Auto Space Telescope Garage – On June 5th between 11:30 AM and 4:29 PM, a Space Telescope Institute employee’s unlocked vehicle was ransacked and the stereo face plate taken.  Investigation continuing.

 

Trespasser – Mason Hall – On June 5th at 8:20 PM, a non-affiliated male attempting to enter the building was identified and issued a trespass warning.

 

 

 

Off Campus

 

Theft (Commercial)Standard Cleaners, 3101 St. Paul St. – On June 3rd at 12:35 PM, a male entered the store, jumped over the counter and removed currency from an unlocked desk drawer.  The male fled east on E. 31st Street.  Baltimore Police responded.

 

Theft from Auto2900 Blk. Wyman Park Dr. – Between June 5th at 11:30 PM and June 6th at 5:30 AM, the window of a non-affiliate’s parked vehicle was broken and the stereo and clothing removed.  Baltimore Police responded.

 

Burglaries:

-          (Attempt) 3037 Guilford Avenue – On June 6th between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM, unknown person(s) pushed in the rear first floor screen and forced open the window. No entry was gained due to bars securing the window.  Check of the residence revealed a cut screen on the first floor front window.

-          3040 Guilford Avenue – On June 6th between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM, unknown person(s) forced open a 3rd floor rear window and removed assorted electronic items and jewelry before exiting via a first floor kitchen door.

-          3042 Guilford Avenue – On June 6th between 1:00 AM and 7:00 AM, unknown person(s) pulled down the top portion of a first floor front window and entered the premise. Once inside, the burglar removed a cell phone, wallet, a set of keys and $100 in currency and exited via the front door.

-          3048 Guilford Avenue – On June 6th between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM, unknown person(s) entered the dwelling through the kitchen window and exited via the front door.  No property taken.

 

All of the above listed incidents are currently under investigation by Baltimore Police.

 

 

REMINDERS

 

When traveling at night use the Security Department’s escort service at 410-516-8700.  Security Escort Vans are operational from 5:00 PM to 3:00AM.

During exam week an Escort Van will also be running from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM as a service to students studying on campus.
