Weekly Campus Crime Report

March 31, 2008 – April 7, 2008

On Campus

Assault (Student on Student, Between Suitemates) -- Charles Commons – April 1^st at 3:18 AM, following some horseplay, two sophomore undergraduates bit each other during a physical altercation. HERU, an RA and the Assistant Director of Res Life responded. One student was transported by a campus officer to Union Memorial for a minor injury.  On being released, the student was relocated to another dormitory room.  Investigation continuing.

Common Assault – Levering Hall, Glass Pavilion, BSU Dance – April 5^th at 1:40 AM, a senior undergraduate reported that he was without provocation pushed and struck twice in the face by an employee of the event’s contract security (not associated with the university.)  Baltimore Police responded and wrote an assault report from the victim. The student was transported to Union Memorial Hospital for minor injuries where he was treated and released.  Investigation continuing.

Off Campus

Recovered Property / Weapon – Charles Street Market – On April 1^st at 4:45 PM, a handgun was found in an unattended coat in the manager's office belonging to an ARAMARK employee. Campus Officers and Baltimore Police police responded and recovered same.  The employee/owner of the coat was not at the location at the time of recovery.  Investigation and follow-up to be conducted by Baltimore Police.

Theft from Auto – 3200 Blk. N. Calvert St. – Between March 30^th at 9:00 PM and March 31^st at 2:58 PM, an iPod was stolen from a junior undergraduate’s vehicle. Entry had been gained by breaking the front driver’s side window. Baltimore Police responded.  Investigation continuing.

Theft from Auto – 100 Blk. W. 29^th St. – Between April 4^th at 6:00 PM and April 5^th at 3:15 AM, the in-dash AM-FM radio/CD-player was taken from a graduate student’s parked vehicle. Entry had been gained by prying open the vehicle’s sunroof.  Baltimore Police responded.

Vandalism – Rear of 200 Blk. E. 33^rd St. (odd-numbered side) – On April 5^th between 12:45 AM and 1:00 PM, an undergraduate discovered that one of the tires on his parked vehicle and two tires on his roommate’s vehicle had been flattened.  There were no signs of punctures or cuts to the tires.  Investigation continuing.

REMINDERS

When traveling at night use the Security Department’s escort service at 410-516-8700.  Security Escort Vans are operational from 5:00 PM to 3:00AM.

During exam week an Escort Van will also be running from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM as a service to students studying on campus.
