March 31, 2008 – April 7, 2008

 

 

On Campus

 

Assault (Student on Student, Between Suitemates) -- Charles Commons – April 1st at 3:18 AM, following some horseplay, two sophomore undergraduates bit each other during a physical altercation. HERU, an RA and the Assistant Director of Res Life responded. One student was transported by a campus officer to Union Memorial for a minor injury.  On being released, the student was relocated to another dormitory room.  Investigation continuing.

 

Common Assault Levering Hall, Glass Pavilion, BSU Dance – April 5th at 1:40 AM, a senior undergraduate reported that he was without provocation pushed and struck twice in the face by an employee of the event’s contract security (not associated with the university.)  Baltimore Police responded and wrote an assault report from the victim. The student was transported to Union Memorial Hospital for minor injuries where he was treated and released.  Investigation continuing.

 

 

 

Off Campus

           

 Recovered Property / Weapon Charles Street Market – On April 1st at 4:45 PM, a handgun was found in an unattended coat in the manager's office belonging to an ARAMARK employee. Campus Officers and Baltimore Police police responded and recovered same.  The employee/owner of the coat was not at the location at the time of recovery.  Investigation and follow-up to be conducted by Baltimore Police.

 

Theft from Auto3200 Blk. N. Calvert St. – Between March 30th at 9:00 PM and March 31st at 2:58 PM, an iPod was stolen from a junior undergraduate’s vehicle. Entry had been gained by breaking the front driver’s side window. Baltimore Police responded.  Investigation continuing.

 

Theft from Auto 100 Blk. W. 29th St. – Between April 4th at 6:00 PM and April 5th at 3:15 AM, the in-dash AM-FM radio/CD-player was taken from a graduate student’s parked vehicle. Entry had been gained by prying open the vehicle’s sunroof.  Baltimore Police responded.

 

Vandalism Rear of 200 Blk. E. 33rd St. (odd-numbered side) – On April 5th between 12:45 AM and 1:00 PM, an undergraduate discovered that one of the tires on his parked vehicle and two tires on his roommate’s vehicle had been flattened.  There were no signs of punctures or cuts to the tires.  Investigation continuing.

 

REMINDERS

 

When traveling at night use the Security Department’s escort service at 410-516-8700.  Security Escort Vans are operational from 5:00 PM to 3:00AM.

During exam week an Escort Van will also be running from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM as a service to students studying on campus.
