Bias Frames

  1. In the PT Target Selection window, enter the number of bias frames desired in the "Bias Frames" field. A good number is 11.
  2. Make sure the number of dome frames listed in the "Dome frames" field is zero (0, not blank, nor anything that's not the digit 0) and no targets are listed in the lower half of the window (beneath the Night Quality radio buttons). If targets are listed here, removed them by double clicking on them with the middle mouse button.
  3. Ensure the "Stop after this object" box is not checked.
  4. Hit the "Observe" button.

The camera will now take bias frames. The number of frames in the "Bias frames" field is the number of exposures remaining, not including the one in progress. This number may be edited at any time. To stop, either edit this number to be 0, or check the "Stop after this object" box. If you do the latter, you may resume taking biases by unchecking "Stop after this object" and hitting the "Observe" button.

Appropriate entries are placed in the log automatically.
