Point to Flat Field Screen

Telescope drives on,
dome off
All telescope functions should be enabled except tracking, which should be shut off (verify that the track rate is 0.000 arc seconds per second, and that the track switch is off) and the dome (dome control should be off (both dome switches "down").
Move dome home If necessary, use the handpaddle to move the dome to HOME, due east. Line up the two red lines on the dome sill.
Remove telescope cover Use the handpaddle to slew the telescope due north. Stop moving when the telescope reaches a declination of 70 degrees UNDER the pole. This is safely away from the hard limit and should allow all of us to reach the cover from the north wall platform. Read the declination from the TCS monitor.

Climb the ladder to the platform on the north wall and remove the cover.

Store the cover in the HARDWARE and SPARES drawer in the tool cabinet (bottom drawer).

Point to screen Move the telescope due south past the pole, using the hand paddle. Only after you have done this, should you slew to the dome screen using the "Slew to FF screen" (Movement Menu item 6) and "Start slew" (item 7) commands on the TCS computer. Alternately, use the handpaddle to move to the flat field screen coordinates:

HA=03:42:00  DEC=13:04:25  J2000.0

Check lights and leave Before leaving the dome, turn out the lights and check that it's dark inside. For extra safety, push the HALT MOTORS button in.
