What to do if the MOP GUI hangs

  1. Check if it's the GUI or communications with the control MOP. Try editing the log. If you can type and characters appear in the window, the GUI is probably fine. Go to step 2.
If the GUI's not responding, go to the command line and exit mop (or kill the process if that doesn't work). Restart and note as much detail as you can in the log, including what you were doing when it froze.
  2. Put the current time, an estimate of when you last hit a button or typed a command, and what button or command it was in the log.
  3. Type
    mt> set errorInfo
in the command line window (where you started the MOP GUI). This should spit out a bunch of text, probably several screens full. Highlight and copy it to the log, and save the log.

  4. Type
    mt> clearGUI
in the command line window. This should unstick the GUI, and (unless something weird has happened, such as sdssmd1 crashing) you should be able to continue observing.
