Using the dome crank

  1. First check that the dome shutter motor is plugged in. The power plug is near the floor to the left of the red toolbox (behind the ladder stow area).

  2. Then check to see that the power switch (a toggle switch on the side panel of the dome shutter relay box to the left of the toolbox) is ON.

  3. Find the crank.  It's a long aluminum pole with a hook at one end and a crank handle at the other. At this writing, it's stored in the LN2 closet to the right of the 2.5 m support building (plugging building). It's against the wall behind some LN2 tanks; you might need some help getting it out.

  4. Send the dome to the home position.

  5. Insert the hook end of the pole into the eye under the shutter motor and start turning.
