CryoTiger
Description
The PT uses an IGC-APD CryoTiger refrigerator to cool the CCD. Our
unit has:
-
PT-14 gas (Praxair Technology, Inc), which cools to liquid nitrogen temperature
with a capacity of about 4 W. Its composition, in approximate order by
weight, is propane, ethane, methane, argon, nitrogen, and neon. This is
not the same mix that SPICAM uses so no parts from that CryoTiger should
be substituted here. Spares are kept at Johns Hopkins.
-
25-foot flex hose, which wants a 255 psi charge in the compressor, measured
at room temperature. We've never been able to get it that high because
an overpressure valve kicks in a little lower, but it works anyway. The
pressure tolerance is +5/-25 psi.
