- Create an sdssmth account. The UID should match the user's Fermilab UID and the primary group should be dss (3532). Unless requested otherwise, tcsh should be the login shell (other documentation assumes this). The user should also be added to the products group (4525).
- Create accounts on pt1 and monxterm. The UID should be the Fermilab number unless the user is from JHU, in which case, it should be the user's UID on eta.pha.jhu.edu. The adduser command is good for doing this:
pt1# adduser -u UID usernamewhere UID is replaced by the appropriate value.
- If the user does not already have an ssh identity file on sdssmth, create one using ssh-keygen. Put the resulting identity.pub entry into the .ssh/authorized_keys file on hoggpt ("observer" account). Check that the user can "ssh observer@hoggpt" without a password.
- Very nicely ask Jen Adelman (jen_a@fnal.gov) for CVS check-out privileges for the ptlog product on the new observers sdssmth account.
- From an account on sdssmth that already has mopdb privileges, give the new user a mopdb account:
sdssmth% setup mopdb
sdssmth% createuser username- Direct the new user to the Observer Account Setup page.
