2002 GRO Soccer Rules

1.      Teams will play with a maximum of eight (8) players on the field at any point, of which two members must be of the female gender.

2.      Each team will be expected to provide a referee throughout the course of the season. The league will run much smoother if the referee provided has a basic overall knowledge of the game of soccer. This referee must show up for their assigned games.

3.      Games consist of two twenty-minute halves.  There is a running clock stopping only for injuries.  In the case of a tie (playoffs only), there will be two three-minute sudden-death periods, and if the game is still tied, there will be a penalty kick tiebreaker.

4.      Substitutions may only occur on a dead ball (ie throw-ins, goal kicks, corners).

5.      Referees will determine who begins the game with possession, and there will be alternating possession to begin the second half.  Possession for extra periods will be determined by the referees in the same fashion that it was decided to begin the game.

6.      All kicks will be indirect.

7.      Goalies cannot use their hands beyond the penalty box.  An indirect kick will result.

8.      A player who is bleeding, has an open would, or an excessive amount of blood on his or her uniform must leave the game until it is bandaged and passes the inspection of a referee.

9.       Any player ejected from a game is immediately suspended from all intramural activities until being reinstated by the Intramural Staff.

10.  Fighting will result in immediate ejection.

11.  There is absolutely no slide tackling.

12.  Drugs and Alcohol are prohibited. Anyone suspected of being under the influence will be asked to leave the intramural playing field. Failure to do so will result in suspension from all intramural activities.
