| JHU SELECT VENDORS |
Supply Chain Shared Services negotiates and executes contracts with vendors to provide the University community with the lowest total cost for needed goods and services. Contracts are negotiated to utilize the University’s buying power, and ensure that the goods and services purchased provide the best value to the University.
Although Supply Chain Shared Services has negotiated contracts with many suppliers to support the diverse needs of the University’s research and teaching activities, there are certain goods and services such as laboratory supplies, office supplies, desktop computers and printers, temporary employment services, etc. the University procures on a continuous basis. To streamline the procurement of these commodities, and most effectively utilize the University’s buying power, SCSS has negotiated long-term agreements with key suppliers. These suppliers are part of a Select Vendor Program.
The Select Vendor Program is focussed on meeting the long-term needs of the University. Select Vendors have all agreed to become strategic University business partners. They have also agreed to provide the University community with competitive pricing, exceptional customer service, and a willingness to work to conduct business as efficiently and effectively as possible. Only a small number of highly capable and qualified suppliers shall be awarded this designation. Suppliers must compete to earn and maintain this distinction.
