Off-Campus Locations
Service Provision:
Homewood Primary Departments in off-campus, Baltimore City locations south of 30th Street and north of University Parkway receive one (1) delivery and collection of internal mail daily.
Currently, Homewood Mail Services provides one (1) direct delivery and collection of internal mail daily (dispatched from Homewood at
9:15am) to each Divisional location for The JH Hospital, Schools of Medicine, Hygiene, and Nursing, the Peabody Inst, the Downtown Center, and satellite offices in between these campuses. Each location is responsible for distribution within its own organization.
Delivery Standards:
According to procedure, all internal mail collected from off-campus locations is taken to the Homewood Mail Services Distribution Center at 5801 Smith Ave, 21209, and is sorted for delivery on the next route. Mail for the Homewood campus is delivered with the routes that afternoon; mail going to off-campus locations will be dispatched with the morning route of the next business day.
This does not necessarily apply to internal production mail or "mass mailings" which may require special scheduling for sortation.
Please Note:
An exchange program is in place among the Mail Centers of the Medical campus. Therefore, mail generated at the Medical campus intended for delivery within the schools of that campus DO NOT have to travel through Homewood Mail Services.
Applied Physics Lab (APL):
Currently, there are no scheduled internal exchanges of mail between the Homewood campus and the Applied Physics Lab. Any department with mail for APL will need to have appropriate postage applied for mailing through the US Postal Service unless the matter meets the exception criteria of the Private Express Statutes.
School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS):
Currently, there are no scheduled internal exchanges of mail between the Homewood campus and SAIS in Washington, D.C.. Any department with mail for SAIS will need to have appropriate postage applied for mailing through the US Postal Service unless the matter meets the exception criteria of the Private Express Statutes.
