JHMI is represented at annual National Postdoc Association

Kirstie Canene-Adams, Rong Huang, Derek HaseltinePostdoc Association officers Rong Huang, Ph.D. (Pharmacology) and Kirstie Canene-Adams, Ph.D. (Pathology) and JHMI PDO Assistant Director, Derek Haseltine, M.Ed., represented Johns Hopkins at the 7th annual National Postdoc Association (NPA) meeting at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. The three presented a workshop on the closing day of the conference titled “Increasing efficiency and sustainability of postdoc associations through subcommittees.” The workshop discussed strategies to recruit and retain postdoc association officers as well as measures the Johns Hopkins’ association has implemented to meet the evolving needs of its members.

The annual NPA meeting that brings together both postdocs and postdoc administrators from academic institutions and private foundations to engage in a dialogue with the shared purpose of working together to address the current concerns and needs of postdocs. This year’s event, held March 27-29, drew over 260 participants representing institutions across the United States.
