Mission Statement |
||
The Public Health Student Forum (PHSF) is a collection of dedicated JHU undergraduates who passionately uphold the ideal that health is a human right, and not just a privilege. We care deeply about providing aid to the underprivileged in Baltimore and are dedicated to being a reliable public health resource to the JHU student body. PHSF strives to promote the advocacy of statewide public health issues and policies in its communities, as well as on the Johns Hopkins University campus. By working in conjunction with the Legislative Education Group (L.E.G.) of Catholic Charities to mobilize Baltimore city residents and the Johns Hopkins student body, Public Health Student Forum ultimately seeks to lobby the Maryland legislature to pass policies that focus on providing much-needed aid to the underprivileged throughout Maryland, many of whom are concentrated in Baltimore. Our activities include community service year round, lobbying at the Maryland legislature in the Spring, sponsoring public health speakers, fundraising for local non-profit aid organizations, and hosting public health awareness events for our campus and the Baltimore community. By promoting social justice and advocacy in Baltimore City and at Johns Hopkins, Public Health Student Forum is an asset to non-profit organizations throughout Baltimore that are in dire need of funding and resources to meet their goals of improving the lives of the city’s citizens. |
