Meeting Convened: Dean Alfred Sommer convened the meeting at 3:00 p.m. Approval of the Minutes: Minutes of the 877th meeting on October 23, 2003 were approved. Remarks by the Dean Dr. Sommer commented briefly on the annual meetings of the Association of Schools of Public Health and the American Public Health Association. At both meetings, Hopkins Public Health faculty and students were well-represented, and the Hopkins reception was well-attended. Remarks by the Faculty Senate Dr. Weiner reported that the recent Faculty General Assembly meeting was well-attended. At that meeting, a draft proposal to revise the Faculty PPM was considered. The main focus of the proposal is to create a professorial track that has the same titles as, but is silent with respect to being on the tenure-track, as a substitute for the present Research and Public Health professorial titles. Dr. Weiner noted that there was a good, but not uniform, consensus among the Senators in support of this proposal. This topic will be the main agenda item at the joint Faculty Senate/Committee of the Whole meeting in early December.
