Exhibition. Evergreen House, Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
Evergreen's exhibition House Guests displays the works of Evergreen's 2005 and 2006 artists-in-residence, painter Amy Chan and installation artist Richard Torchia. Chan's paintings use humor and appropriated imagery to convey the loneliness of the modern American landscape. Torchia creates installations that deal with principles of perception using recorded sounds and the optics of photography. Free with museum admission. 410-516-0341.

Theater. Merrick Barn, 8 p.m.
Johns Hopkins University Theatre presents the premiere of the Performance class's production of Christopher Durango's comedy The Marriage of Bette and Boo. An all-University Theatre student cast performs in this show, a culmination of a semester-long study with director Krista Smith in developing solid underpinnings for character and relationships. $15 general admission, $13 seniors, $5 students. 410-516-5153.

Music director Jed Gaylin will lead the Hopkins Symphony Orchestra in a performance of excerpts from Wagner's Parsifal as well as Ives' Symphony No. 3 (The Camp Meeting). Parisian pianist Chantal Stigliani joins the orchestra for Grieg's Piano Concerto. At 7 p.m., Peter Jelavich, a professor in the Department of History at Johns Hopkins, will lead a pre-concert talk on Parsifal. $10 general admission; $8 for seniors (60+), non-JHU students and JHU affiliates; and free to JHU students with valid ID. 410-516-6542.

Alice McDermott and Jean McGarry, of the Writing Seminars, will read from their works. McDermott won the National Book Award for Charming Billy, and her latest novel, After This, is just out.
