Student Activities Commission (SAC)
-
SAC is a division of OSI that governs all student groups that are registered with SAC, including religious, cultural, sports, political groups. It provides funding as well as organizes and authorizes events for student groups. SAC meetings are held every Monday and Thursday 6-8pm, except for special GA times on the first Monday of every month. Funding proposals must be heard by SAC at meeting times.
-
JSI, a Division-I cultural group, is required to send two representatives to SAC GAs. SAC has the rights to fine us or freeze our account for missed meetings. The first missed GA gets our account frozen. The second consecutive missed GA results in a $50 fine. The third consecutive missed GA results in an additional $100 fine (totaling in $150 of fines). The fourth consecutive missed GA results in defunct status. Five or more consecutively missed GAs result in the group's SAC status being rescinded.
Office of Minority Student Affairs (OMSA)
-
OMSA is a division of OSI that plays a crucial role to help minority student groups network, organize events, and fund groups under emergency situation. Culture Block Party and Culturefest are two of the largest events coordinated by OMSA.
-
Although not a governing body and therefore without strict statement or repercussion, OMSA requires JSI to elect two representatives, who can overlap with SAC reps, to attend monthly GAs and stand for our interests. Attendance is highly recommended, as OMSA oversees many large-scale culture events.
