Agenda Item: New Business

Johns Hopkins' Carey Business School was dedicated on April 25, in a ceremony at Shriver Hall on the Homewood campus. Named in honor of James Carey of Loudon, an 18th-century Baltimore businessman, the school was made possible through a $50 million gift from his great-great-grandson William Polk Carey. The school's mission, said Yash Gupta, who was officially installed as the first dean, is "to be a community of learning anchored by ethical behavior, grounded in the humanistic tradition, committed to developing global business leaders and solving our most pressing societal problems through discovery and entrepreneurship in productive working partnership with our colleagues from across the university." — Catherine Pierre
