Elizabeth Knauer has appeared as a soloist in opera and recital
performances in many parts of North America. her operatic experience
ranges from traditional - Musetta in Puccini's La Boheme
and Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi fan Tutti to contemporary - a
Spirit in Vivier's Kopernicus and the Girl in Taverner's
A Gentle Spirit. She received critical acclaim in creating the
role of Young Juana in Daniel Crozier's prize winning opera, With
Blood, With Ink Ms. Knauer has participated in the Twentieth Century
Opera and Song Program at The Banff Center for the Arts in Alberta, Canada
and premiered Rendezvous of Light, an original one-woman
music theater piece commissioned by The Young Victorian Theater of
Baltimore, Maryland. Ms. Knauer received a Graduate Performance Diploma
from the Peabody Conservatory of Music. She has sung locally with The
Washington Opera, Baltimore Opera Company, New Horizons Chamber Ensemble
and the Columbia Orchestra. Her awards include a Graduate Rotary
Scholarship to Salzburg, Austria where she lived for one year and attended
the Mozarteum, the Peabody George Castelle Award for Voice, and last year,
as an Opera/Columbus finalist, the McInturff Award for Musical Excellence.
Ms. Knauer currently resides in New York City where she recently sang the
part of the Opera Singer in the Equity Showcase Performances of
Singing With My Demons. She is a member of Artistic Director
Rhoda Levine's opera improvisation troupe, Play It By Ear.
