Wednesday: Journal Club
This Wednesday, November 8 at 8 pm, Crystal Cheung will be hosting a journal club (location TBD). She will be presenting the article entitled: "Non-visual environmental imaging and object detection through active electrolocation in weakly electric fish." The PubMed ID is 16444522.
All who attend are expected to read the paper prior to the discussion. If you are interested in attending the journal club, please email awen1@jhu.edu to sign up. The first 10 people will be signed up to attend. Those who participate will receive credit in the research lobe. Mentoring session: Registration for the spring semester is coming up ! So Nu Rho Psi is going to give our wonderful underclassmen our bestest advice at our fall semester Mentoring Session. Monday, 11/13. 9-11pm in the AMR MPR . So we need people to help out with making announcements and such. Since we are targeting neuro students only, there is no need to go to all the science classes. Select the classes you can make announcements in through the yahoogroup poll:
Announce date, time, place, and FOOD. Write them on the board. Post on WebCT if you're a TA. Unless you are in the class anyway, I'd try to make it to the Wed or Thurs ones so that it's a little closer to the event. I will have Aaron email everyone around that time as well.
The day of mentoring, the more mentors we have, the better, since that way we have more classes covered. You will get hours for helping ! Contact Catherine (catherinechoi@jhu.edu )

Committee Opportunities
Making Neuroscience Fun: Time to get MNF going! We need committee members not only for presentations, but for setting up, making presentations, training sessions, etc. You can help out even if you don't present! Email Kevin Chen kchen19@jhu.edu if interested.

Alumni Relations: We want to keep in contact with all our great NRP alumni, so we need a committee of people to help do this. If you are interested, please e-mail Theresa ( theresa.keating@gmail.com), she will be arranging a meeting with the committee and Dr. Gorman to determine our Alumni Relation goals.
Lab Guide: Similar to the ACE Guide for classes, Nu Rho Psi will be making a Lab Guide to give Neuro students feedback from other majors about what it is like to work in different labs around the Hopkins campuses. Committee members are needed to create the evaluation forms for students to fill out and to develop a system for compiling this information. If interested please contact Ali ( awen1@jhu.edu).

Nu Rho Psi Social: Save the date! Tuesday, December 12th from 6-10pm we will be hosting a social for all Nu Rho Psi members. Details will follow, but make sure to save this date for a great time!
