What are PEEPs?
PEEPs (Preventative Education and Empowerment for Peers) help CHEW to increase Homewood student's awareness and knowledge about varioius college health issues such as sexual health including contraceptive options, sexually transmitted infections, and women's reproductive health; sexual assault awareness; alcohol and other drugs; and healthy living; as well as promote Student Health and Wellness Center services. PEEPs accomplish this by going through specialized training to provide health promotion programs, events and outreach to their fellow peers.
Who are PEEPs?
Hi! My name is Aishwarya and I'm a senior majoring in Public Health Studies and French. I joined PEEPs because I'm really interested in trying to find healthier solutions for my frequent junk food cravings and I want to share my passion for eating with the Hopkins community. I’m involved with a bunch of clubs on campus, and am a proud member of Pi Beta Phi. When I'm home I work as a Nurse's Assistant at a Hematology- Oncology practice. I love spending time with friends, especially when junk food is involved, so I’m hoping this year on PEEPs I’ll bring that under control. I enjoy dancing, playing the piano, shopping and relaxing with my family and friends. My greatest talent, however, is my runway walk. Ask me sometime and I'd be happy to show you.
Hey guys! My name is Aleesha and I'm a junior majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology and French. Besides being involved with PEEPs, I'm also a member of the Hopkins Emergency Response Unit. My efforts in both of these groups are geared towards helping college students establish healthier life styles. We all know how easy it is to give in to junk food and all-nighters before an exam. I would like to use PEEPs as a means to find and share a solution to this problem. As the proverb says, where there's a will, there's a way!
Hi! My name is An. I’m a senior and am not looking forward to leaving Hopkins at all! My ethnicity is Turkish and yes, I can speak the language. I’m majoring in Public Health and Spanish (I studied abroad in Madrid last fall, definitely worth a visit). My ultimate goal is med school and I’m especially interested in women’s health. I’m Co-President of JHU Dental Brigades and enjoy international volunteer work. I joined PEEPs to become involved in health education at a more local level. My friends are the most important part of my life and I can’t wait to become part of the PEEPs family!
Hey peeps! My name is Atma and I am a senior Cognitive Science major. I’m from Topanga, California, and I love the woods and the beach! In my free time, I make art and jewelry, laugh with my friends, and go on adventures. I am also interested in Entrepreneurship, and Theatre. I joined PEEPs because I have a passion for fitness and wellness, and wanted the opportunity to share my knowledge with my peers. I believe that positivity and a little willpower are the best medicine, and am looking forward to spreading that through PEEPs.
Hey everyone, my name is Bryan, I'm a senior Public Health major and am also working towards getting an MHS in Mental Health from JHSPH. This will be my 3rd year with PEEPs. I am involved in PEEPs as a way to help reach out and hopefully educate others about ways that they can maintain a healthy lifestyle. Outside of PEEPs, I am involved in Lambda Epsilon Mu - the Latino Pre-Health Honor Society - and Health Leads. I’m really looking forward to working with PEEPs this year!
Hey! My name is Frank and I am a junior Public Health and Sociology major from San Francisco, California. I am also a M.A.P.P.mentor who works with a group of freshmen students, guiding them through their first year of college. I wanted to join PEEPS because I believe that teaching preventative interventions is the best way to improve the quality of life of Hopkins students. When I’m not in the library I like to read, cook, and take walks.
Hey everyone! My name is Ilana and I’m a sophomore majoring in Public Health. I’ve always loved playing a bunch of different sports and maintaining a relatively healthy lifestyle. Once I got to college, learning how to fit these aspects into my life was at first a challenge, but then I learned how to gradually incorporate them into my everyday routine. As a member of PEEPs, I hope to not only share my passion for exercise and healthy living, but to also help my peers figure out a balanced college lifestyle. Outside of PEEPs, I’m part of SHARE and am a member of Pi Beta Phi. I can’t wait for a great year!
Hey guys! My name is Katrina (yes, like the hurricane) and I’m a sophomore Public Health and Economics major from North Miami Beach, FL. I’m really interested in health economics and improving quality health & healthcare access. I’m super stoked to be a part of PEEPS this year and excited to help encourage healthier habits around Hopkins! I believe good health and happiness go hand-in-hand and neither should ever be compromised – even during finals week. After all, embracing your inner bum is important every now and then. During my free time, I love doodling, doing Zumba, dancing around mindlessly to loud music, running on the beach, and watching Castle. Oh and if you’re an FC Barcelona fan, we should pretty much be best friends. Looking forward to a wonderful year!
Hey! My name is Megan and I am a junior majoring in Behavioral Biology and Philosophy. I am excited for my second year of PEEPs because I love being able to talk to my fellow students about their health. I think that it is important for people to know that their health is in their hands and I enjoy giving people the tools to make healthy choices. I am a personal trainer and class instructor at the gym and would love to see you there! I love to run, lift weights, do yoga, kayak and any fun and challenging exercise.
Hey, my name’s Steph and I’m a sophomore BME major from New Hampshire. I joined PEEPs since I’m a little bit of a health nut (and by I’m a little bit of a health nut I mean yeah, I definitely am), so I want to share my passion for healthy living with others. Outside of PEEPs, I run (and throw) on the Hopkins cross country and track teams. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year!
Hey! My name is Tina and I’m a junior Public Health Studies major from Laurel, MD. Besides PEEPs, I’m a part of SHARE and Global Medical Brigades. When I’m not studying or working I like to watch gladiator movies, color pictures in rainbows with crayons and markers, eat Chinese food, and dance. I’m so excited about working with an awesome group of people in PEEPs this year!
