- Ashtanga Yoga Student Group is group of JHU students united by the practice of ashtanga yoga -- the practice that involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures and leads to a light and strong body, and a calm mind. The Group welcomes any JHU students, interested in exploring and learning the tradition of ashtanga yoga. The only limit to the number of group members would be the capacity of the room where the yoga classes is held. The yoga classes are led by Sergey Votyagov -- JHU grad. student and a certified ashtanga yoga instructor.

- We are a group that enables and encourages all Hopkins affiliates to learn and play cricket. We play and practice regularly during weekends. We also aim to participate in competitive leagues in the Baltimore Washington area. The weekend sessions are split into serious practice sessions keeping the competitive leagues in mind and casual sessions where beginners and experts can come and enjoy cricket. The serious sessions are played with leatherball on the practice field while the casual sessions are played with tennis balls on the Upper Quad. Membership is open to all Hopkins affiliates.

- Persian poetry spans two and a half millennia and is amongst the richest in the world. For centuries it is been one of the main means of expressing our beliefs and traditions. The luminaries of Iranian literature, such as Rumi, Hafez, Sa\222di and Khayyam are emissaries of this deep Persian culture of conveying emotions, social issues, philosophical and mystical impressions through poems.A group of graduate students at Homewood campus get together and follow through this tradition of poetry reading.
Squash Club

- Johns Hopkins Graduate Christian Fellowship (GCF) is a Christian fellowship and advocacy group. We seek to provide fellowship and community for JHU Christian graduate students and to be a resource to commend Christian philosophy and way of life to Hopkins graduate students. Any graduate student interested in community and/or the Christian faith is welcome to participate in GCF. GCF is part of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. GCF meets every Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm at the Interfaith Center for Bible study and prayer. GCF also holds worship nights, prayer meetings, retreats, and various other events throughout the year.

Shows are open to all Hopkins affiliates. We have been active for over 4 years now since 2003. We screen our movies nearly every Saturday night at 7:30 pm in Schaffer 3. Movies are in Indian languages, but sub-titled in English.

- SLAC is a group of students, faculties, and local activists concerned about labor and social justice issues. SLAC has been leading the Living Wage Campaign at Hopkins since 1996. In October 1998 SLAC organised a fashion show to highlight the use of sweatshop labor by U.S. retailers, including many university stores. In the spring of 2000, SLAC conducted a successful sit-in of Garland Hall, an Hopkins administration building. This sit-in won significant pay raises for JHU employees, although the workers did not gain a living wage. In 2001, SLAC participated in successful union campaigns at Hopkins Hospital and Up-to-Date Laundry. We have also hosted talks by a number of visiting activists from Latin America and elsewhere. Moves are under way to establish a national Student Labor Action Committee. SLAC meets every Thursday evening during the semester. - The Hopkins Jujitsu club teaches a modern version of traditional Japanese Jujitsu that combines the old Shogun era techniques with those of the modern police force into an art with a broad base of self-defense options. Club meetings focus on situational self-defense, throwing, grappling, and improving your physical and mental condition as well as coordination. Training for and participating in the annual inter-collegiate tournament as a member of the Hopkins team is optional, as is rank promotion. New members are always welcome, so come see what it is all about.

- The GJSA is a student run group that exists to address the needs of the graduate Jewish community at the Johns Hopkins University by promoting cultural, religious, social, educational, and political programming. We seek to raise awareness of Judaism and of community and campus resources for Jewish students from many different departments at Homewood, and also in the larger graduate student community. The GJSA consists of students from both Arts and Sciences and Engineering. Any student from Johns Hopkins University is welcome at our events though we tailor the advertising to the post-undergraduate crowd specifically. While our central programming interest is around Jewish holidays and interests, all of our events are open to the entire graduate student community, regardless of religious affiliation. A major goal of our organization is to provide space and time for graduate students to connect and create communities. We work closely and coordinate programs with Hillel of Greater Baltimore, Hopkins Hillel, and JSA at JHMI (Medical, Public Health, and Nursing Schools), and graduate student organizations at University of Maryland at Baltimore, University of Baltimore, and Baltimore Hebrew University.
