First Call for Help For many people needing services, United Way is often the place to start. By calling First Call for Help, individuals can receive information and referrals to dozens of agencies ranging from AIDS to domestic violence, job training to senior, disabled or youth services. First Call for Help is a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week hotline providing free access to all types of health and human service information. Staff and volunteers provide caring, confidential answers to personal questions with the aid of an automated resource file. Last year, the hotline fielded 55,000 calls. First Call for Help can be reached by dialing (410) 685-0525 or 1-800-492-0618 for those out of area; TDD call (410) 685-2159. It is just another of the many innovative public services made possible by your contribution to the United Way of Central Maryland.
