A Grantsmanship
Workshop for graduate and postdoctoral students will be held
March
25, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Arellano Theater, Levering Hall,
on the Homewood
campus. The purpose of the workshop is to acquaint students
registered in Homewood
division schools with the resources available on the Homewood
campus for seeking
sponsored funding for research and to introduce those students to
methods and
strategies for improving research proposals. Registration is
required to assess the
number of students attending and to determine the location of
breakout sessions.

and department,
choose a breakout session from those offered and provide a
telephone number where
they can be contacted.
The 1998 Provost's
Undergraduate Research Awards will provide a number of $2,500
grants to support original research, composition or performance
projects next
summer or fall. Current freshmen, sophomores and juniors in Arts
and Sciences,
Engineering, Medicine and Nursing, and at the Peabody
Conservatory, are eligible.
The money can be used to pay the cost of the winner's research or
creative
projects. Winners can also choose either to receive up to $1,500
of the total award
as a cash stipend or to receive academic credit for the work.

the Vice Provost
for Research, 207 Garland Hall at Homewood, or by calling
410-516-4587. Deadlines:
noon on Friday, March 13, for summer projects; Friday, April 10,
for fall semester
projects.
Workshops in public
speaking are being offered by the
Women's Studies
Program, as
part of Women's History Month, Sunday, March 8, and Monday, March
9. Pre-registration is required for participation. Interested
individuals can sign up in the Women's Studies office, 300
Jenkins, on the Homewood campus. The workshops will take place at
various times and in various locations over the course of the
two days.
A non-credit Webmaster Certificate program is being offered
at the Downtown Center.
The nine courses include Introduction to Web Technologies,
Graphic Design for the
Web and Web Page Development I. Most classes are two days. Spring
registration is

Free tours of the new
School of Nursing
building are available every Friday at 10
a.m. The school is located on the East Baltimore campus. To RSVP,

Old eyeglasses are wanted by the Office of Community Relations
and Volunteer Services, which is working
with a local agency to help people in need to receive
discounted prices on quality eyewear. Please bring the glasses to
the second floor
of Levering Hall on the Homewood campus before the end of May.
