Young Investigators' Day Entries
Entries for awards associated with the 2006 Young
Investigators' Day at the
School of Medicine will be accepted between 9 a.m. and
3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, in 809 PCTB. Medical and
graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical
fellows at the School of Medicine and house staff at The
Johns Hopkins Hospital are eligible.
Award recipients must be present at the Young
Investigators' Day symposium and celebration, to be held at
4 p.m. on April 20. Additional information, detailed
instructions for applicants and cover sheets for the
applications can be found on easel stands in various
locations on the East Baltimore campus.

The Black Faculty and
Staff Association is extending a universitywide appeal
for members. The association is a visible and viable agency
dedicated to promoting and enhancing identity, sense of
community, professional welfare and development of African,
African-American, Caribbean, Hispanic and other people of
color within the faculty, staff and student population at

Loan Repayment Program
The Maryland Higher Education Commission is continuing to
accept applications for a loan repayment program aimed at
encouraging Maryland residents to work in certain fields in
Maryland that provide service to a low-income, underserved
population or underserved areas.
Through the Janet L. Hoffman Loan Assistance Repayment
Program, qualified applicants may receive up to $7,500
annually to repay college expense loans. The following may
apply: nurses, nurse faculty, physical and occupational
therapists, physician assistants, social workers, speech
pathologists, teachers and lawyers (judicial clerks in any
court are not eligible).
Eligibility requirements, the application and lists of
eligible schools and shortage fields are available on the
MHEC Web site at
www.mhec.state.md.us under the section "Financial Aid

Postdoc Fellowships in the Humanities
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral Program in the
Humanities invites applications for three fellowships.
Appointments are for one year, beginning July 1, 2006, and
are renewable for a second year.
