Help Improve the Future of a High School
JHU's Discovering Careers Summer Youth Employment Program
provides an excellent opportunity for faculty and staff to
mentor Baltimore City high school students. In this
six-week program, supervisors can provide a youth with the
opportunity to acquire or practice workplace know-how, as
well as motivation to meet academic expectations, earn a
high school diploma and enter meaningful employment or
further schooling. Students are paid by the Mayor's Office
of Employment Development.
The students have been preselected from participants
in the year-round FUTURES program at six Baltimore City
high schools. Discovering Careers at JHU is part of the
Office of Employment Development's YouthWorks summer
employment program; jobs cannot be provided to other
students through this program.
The employment period runs from July 13 through Aug.
20, a change from previously published dates. Orientation
for supervisors and students will be held on Friday, July
