To commemorate Honoring Diversity Week, March 1-7, the
School of Nursing will sponsor performances, information
sessions and discussions about the many cultures
represented in the school. The event will present ways by
which people of different cultures can learn from one

NASA Aerospace Summer Internships
The NASA Academy is an intensive 10-week summer resident
program for undergraduate and graduate students interested
in pursuing careers in aerospace-related fields. Students
will focus on national and international government,
academic and private sector cooperation in assuring the
success of complex space enterprises.
The program includes guided laboratory research,
collaborative group projects, lectures, field trips,
interaction with prominent professionals from NASA and its
associates, and oral and written presentations. The program
will be offered from June 6 to Aug. 13 at the Goddard Space
Flight Center Academy in Greenbelt, Md., and from June 20
to Aug. 27 at the Ames Research Center Academy in Moffett
Field, Calif. Applications, which must be submitted by Jan.

Collaborative Internship Program for College
Ten-week summer internships for college students interested
in science, technology, engineering and mathematics are
available at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland,
through the auspices of the Lewis Educational and
Collaborative Internship Program of the Glenn Research
Under the personal guidance of NASA professional staff
members, interns do assignments in research and
development, as well as technical and administrative
projects. Interns are integrated into the day-to-day
activities of the center to the greatest extent possible,
and a certain amount of time is devoted to a program of
scheduled educational, professional and social events.
Three sessions are scheduled this summer: May 24 to
July 30, June 7 to Aug. 13, and June 14 to Aug. 20.

Web-based CAAT Course
The Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing has developed
a new Web-based course titled Enhancing Humane Science:
Improving Animal Research. The course, available at
provides an overview of diverse topics in the practice and
approaches to humane animal experimentation.
Individuals completing the self-paced material are
invited to join discussion groups led by faculty or invited
guests. The discussions are scheduled from noon to 1:30
p.m., in room W3030, 615 N. Wolfe St., Bloomberg School of
Public Health. The course offers a certificate of
participation, available by participating in the course,
clicking on the "certificate" portion on the Web site and
attending one of the discussion groups. The first
discussion group is scheduled for Jan. 21.
