'The Wild Party'

Theatre Hopkins will conclude its 82nd season with the area premiere of Andrew Lippa's provocative musical The Wild Party, directed and choreographed by Todd Pearthree. Opening Friday, June 11, the production will run four weekends through Sunday, July 4, at Homewood's Merrick Barn.

The show premiered in 2000 at the Manhattan Theatre Club, was nominated for 13 Drama Desk Awards and received the Outer Critics Circle Award for best off-Broadway musical of the season.

Composer/lyricist Lippa also created the book, adapted from a Jazz Age poem by Joseph Moncure March. Said Lippa of the story, "I treat it as if this were the last party in the last apartment on the last night of the world."

Under the musical direction of Robert Gee, the cast includes Lauren Spencer-Harris, Shawn Doyle, Howard Turner, Shannon Wollman, Liz Boyer Hunnicutt, Michael Himmelfarb and Brent Bell.

Curtain time for Friday and Saturday performances is 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees begin at 2:15 p.m. Tickets at the door are $15. For reservations, call 410-516-7159 or e-mail thehop@jhu.edu.
