Dear Student Borrower:

Our records indicate that you are a first time borrower under the William D. Ford Direct Loan program. Federal law requires that we provide you with entrance counseling for this loan.

A first-time borrower is someone who has not previously received a Direct Subsidized Loan, Direct Unsubsidized Loan, Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan, Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, or Federal Supplemental Loan to Students (SLS).

As a first-time borrower, you must read the "Entrance Counseling Guide for Borrowers" on the web at www.ed.gov/DirectLoan. Please give special attention to the Rights and Responsibilities Summary Checklist. Retain a copy of the guide for your records.

NOTE: you are NOT required to submit this checklist to the financial aid office.

If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please contact us at (410) 516-8028, or contact the U.S. Department of Education's Direct Loan Servicing Center at (800) 848-0979.

Sincerely,

Office of Student Financial Services
Loan Coordinator
