DEPARTMENT OF EARTH AND PLANETARY SCIENCES The four focus areas of the initiative are: (1) current and future global change, (2) past global change, (3) surficial and environmental processes, and (4) geobiology and global change. We seek an outstanding individual with a recent Ph. D. from any area of the Earth and Planetary Sciences. The successful candidate will be free to pursue his/her independent research interests, but projects that complement our existing research programs will be given special consideration. Dr. Olson, a professor of geophysics and geophysical fluid dynamics who studies the dynamics of the Earth's interior, has been elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was included in the 2005
class of Fellows and Honorary Foreign Members.
