Meyer Group : People : Sherine Obare

E-mail: sherine.obare@wmich.edu

Sherine was actively involved in developing catalytic systems that can selectively dehalogenate organic halides, including chlorinated solvents and chloroacetamide pesticides, to produce benign products. Her approach involves using a solid state catalyst consisting of metalloporphyrins anchored to semiconductor surfaces. The catalytic system was effective in both organic and aqueous environments and could potentially be used to remove contaminants from ground water.
Sherine is currently a facutly member at Western Michigan University. If you would like to see her web page click here.
