The Word for This Place
By Cinder Hypki,
Community Artist
If there is one word for this place, the word is peace.
-Chaplain Sharon Kugler-
If there is one word for this place
the word is peace.
If there is a vision for this place
the vision is peace.
If there is a purpose for this place
it is peace, it is peace --
a respect for each other, each belief.
Mosaic of faiths encircling the globe;
in understanding and tolerance
peace unfolds.
Peace here, in this space
Peace here, in this place
in the art of our hands, truth of our voices.
With each of our choices, peace radiates outward
to places we’ve not yet been
in a future we cannot yet see.
To all who enter this space, peace.
To all who journey from this place, peace.
Nevermore able to label you “other”;
it can only be friend, now, sister, brother.
Nevermore able to label you “other”;
it can only be friend, sister, brother.
Peace.
-Winter 2004
For the staff and students at the JHU Bunting Meyerhoff Interfaith and
Community Service Center with love and deep respect for the path you are walking together.
