JHU Programs
This program is offered by Advanced Academic
Programs twice a year. Aitchison Public Service fellows will:
take three academic courses taught by Johns Hopkins faculty; attend
lectures and symposiums by White House consultants, ambassadors,
journalists, and visiting professors; intern with the policy makers
and elected officials, lobbyists, or civil servants who turn the
wheels of government; develop an individual research project based
on your internship, using the Library of Congress and the National
Archives; and explore the social and cultural resources of Washington.

Current engineering sophomores and juniors
may apply to become Vredenburg Scholars by proposing an international
academic experience (research, study abroad) OR internship
at a private company, nonprofit organization or NGO (paid
or unpaid). Projects will be funded to a maximum of $8,000;
the typical range of a Vredenburg Scholarship is between $4,500
and $6,500. The Vredenburg Scholarship may be used to defray
the costs of tuition, travel, living expenses, and other reasonable
expenses associated with the international experience. Financial
need will not be a factor in selection of the scholars and
funding of the proposals. However, students with demonstrated
financial need may be eligible for an additional stipend,
which will be determined on an individual basis.
