> Explore Majors & Careers
The process of researching majors and careers can be an exciting
one. Any Hopkins major can prepare you for a variety of career fields.
What you decide to do depends on your interests, values, skills
and experiences. If you are already interested in a particular career,
there are many majors would prepare you equally well for it. Taking
the time to explore multiple majors and careers will lay the foundation
for an enjoyable career.
- To begin, take a look at the Career
Decison-Making Model to assess where you are in your own descion-making
process.
- Then explore options by investigating career
fields and majors. Use resources like Academic
Departments, the Best Career Links, Exploring Careers and Choosing a Major and What Can You Do With a Major
In...?
- After you research majors and careers, consider networking
and informational interviewing with alumni and other professionals
who work in these fields. You may also explore career opportunities
by talking with employers at career fairs, and browsing jobs in
your J-Connect account.
- Internships, research jobs and
summer employment are highly effective ways for you to try out
a field, gain experience and skills and make professional contacts.
Come talk with a member of the Career
Center's staff if you would like to discuss how your search
is going.
