The JHU Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble, the largest student instrumental ensemble on campus, is
a relaxed yet dedicated group of individuals who enjoy reducing the stress
of Hopkins while playing music. Directed by Jari Villanueva, the full Wind Ensemble
rehearses twice weekly in the SDS Room in the Mattin Center, 6:30 pm to 8:00
pm on Wednesdays, and 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Sundays. We give one concert in
the fall, usually in late November, and one in the spring, usually mid April,
both in Shriver Auditorium. We welcome players of varying playing abilities,
so our repertoire varies as well. There are no auditions to be a member of
the Wind Ensemble, and though it is an extracurricular activity, we do have
an attendance policy to keep the ensemble at a high performing quality.
