Upsilon Pledge Class Pledges
Rushing
Alpha Phi Omega is a national service
fraternity with membership available to anyone who wants
to lend a
helping hand. Anyone with the desire to develop leadership, promote
friendship, and serve
humanity is welcome regardless of race,
economic
status, religion, gender, etc.
The pledging process is conducted so
that the both the fraternity and the pledge can have a chance
to see
whether or not they are right for each other. The pledge requirements
are as follows:
Pledge
Requirements:
All requirements must
be met by 4pm on Sunday, April 27.
- Must
attend Pledge Meetings,
Sundays 6pm @ Shaffer 101
- Attendance
Policy:
- (1) May
miss 1 meeting if valid
excuse (emergency) and consulted at least 48 hours in advance with
pledgemasters.
- (2) May not
miss 2 or more meetings.
- (3) May not
miss 1 meeting without following the first guideline.
- (4)
Must make meetings on time, matches will be
lost otherwise.
- Must Attend
Pledge Class
Fellowship and Service Events
- Must complete
15 hours of service
sign in at service events and note that you are a pledge, to make sure
you get credit for your hours.
- Must attend at
least 4 fellowship
events
- Must complete
Pledge Signature
Book (All pledges, your big, 20 brothers, the exec board)
- Must
meet Pledge Task
requirements (complete 4 out of 5 pledge tasks
with Big; meet with Big for at least 30 mins weekly and have
Big sign and date back of Signature Book)
- Must have at
least one match left
in Matchbook by the end of the semester.
- Matchbook
Policy:
- (1) Pledges
must have matchbook on
them at all times.
- (2) Only
Pledgemasters may pull matches, but brothers may report to
pledgemasters.
- (3)
Pledgemasters decide what constitutes the loss of a match from a
Pledges matchbook.
- (4) Pledges
may appeal to exec board in case of a serious matter of
contention over the pulling of match(es) by Pledgemasters.
- Must
pass the Pledge Exam Exam;
will be April 24, 2008. Pledges will be informed of the test material.
- Must
attend at least 2
brother meetings.
- Must
pay $35 in dues at Initiation
Ceremony.
- Must
wear Pledge Pin at all times,
except the five S: Sipping, Showering, Sexing, Sweating, and Sleeping.
- Must
wear pin on outer
shirt/sweater and BE VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES (the pin may NOT be covered
by other layers of clothing, even if a Pledge puts another layer on).
May not wear pin on hat or jeans/skirt/pants etc. In addition, must
wear pin on upper half of shirt.
- Pledges
should be able to check
their status (hours, number of brother meetings attended etc.) at www.jhu.edu/aphio/brothers
