Public Health Studies
Major only

Public health is society’s organized effort to protect, promote, and restore people’s health. Students in public health studies take core courses in epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy and management, and environmental health.  Students study the scientific, political, and cultural causes of disease, the medical treatments for disease, and the many ways to prevent and treat public health crises around the world.

Highlights of the Hopkins Program
Public health majors choose an emphasis in either natural sciences or social sciences. The program in natural sciences prepares students for careers in medicine with course work in organic chemistry, cell biology, physics, and public health. The program in social sciences emphasizes the socioeconomic and cultural aspects of public health, with course work in economics, sociology, anthropology, public policy, and public health. All seniors will take electives in the graduate program at the Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
