Why I chose Johns Hopkins: I chose Johns Hopkins because it surpassed my checklist! Not only is it a research-oriented university with breadth and depth across the academic departments, but it's also on the East Coast with easy access to Washington, D.C., and New York. I was also a recruited tennis player for Hopkins, so I was very excited that I'd be able to experience college as a student-athlete.
Favorite class: Chemical Engineering Today: It's a series of lectures made by various guest speakers that are involved in Chemical Engineering. I love this class because I like learning about the practical applications of my major and how others have used their chemical engineering degree in different ways.
Favorite professor: Professor Barnett, my physics professor, is my absolute favorite, without question. No matter what we are learning, I know that I can count on Professor Barnett to pull out some sort of wacky, memorable demo that will help me understand some of the obscure physics concepts that we are studying.
My favorite character from a movie/book/television series: Tim Gunn from Project Runway. Okay, so maybe he's not a scripted character, but I like him because he can be completely honest with someone when nobody else wants to be. I also find his motto, "Make it work!" to be extremely useful when I find myself in times of trouble!
Favorite place on the Homewood campus: The Athletic Center. Working out with the girls from the tennis team and jogging around the indoor track with friends is a great way to unwind after classes or practice. No matter how stressed or busy I am, I always like to get a workout in because I know I'll feel about ten times better afterwards!
Favorite Johns Hopkins memory: The first tennis party! On our first Friday night here at Hopkins, one of the tennis team captains threw a dinner party for the team at her apartment. It was so much fun getting to know all of my teammates and bonding with the upperclassmen. She even made us cookies decorated like tennis balls!
