Hometown: Norwell, MA
Majors: Mechanical Engineering / Robotics minor
Current residence: Wolman Hall
Campus involvement: Student Admissions Advisory Board, Society for Women Engineers, Habitat for Humanity
Why I chose Johns Hopkins: Johns Hopkins was just the perfect fit for me. Hopkins has amazing research opportunities, and it also offers a balance of liberal arts and engineering. I didn’t want to sacrifice my humanities for math and science, and at Hopkins, I don’t have to! The campus is gorgeous, and every member of the community is passionate for what he does.
Favorite class: Introduction to Mechanics I, which is code name for “Physics I for Mechanical Engineers”. The professor is really entertaining, but also great at explaining the concepts. And I really, really, really love physics.
My favorite character from a movie/book/television series: I have aspired to be Hermione Granger since the age of seven.
Favorite place on the Homewood campus: Gilman Hall is absolutely stunning, and a great place to study. Its bell helps me to keep track of time while around campus. A scenic picture of Gilman is currently my phone background.
Favorite Johns Hopkins memory: All of my whitewater kayaking during Pre-O. Not only did I learn a fun new sport and let go of my dependence on technology (including showers), but I also made eleven-plus new friends! It was a fantastic experience, and a perfect introduction to Hopkins.
What I want to do with my major: I want to build robots. Hopefully rovers that explore outer space, but really any type of robot is fine by me!
