Overview Johns Hopkins admits all students on the basis of their academic preparation, personal strengths, and accomplishments without regard to their ability to meet the cost of a Johns Hopkins education.
The Office of Student Financial Services is committed to helping all qualified students finance a Johns Hopkins education. You should not allow financial circumstances to deter you from applying for admission to Johns Hopkins. Approximately 47 percent of Johns Hopkins undergraduates receive some form of financial assistance; the average need-based financial aid package for freshmen totals $31,612.
To the extent that our funds allow, we strive to meet the financial need of our families. We are also available to assist families with the process of applying for financial aid and understanding the various need-based financial aid programs, as well as with other financing options.
Financial aid packages typically consist of a combination of need-based Johns Hopkins grants, federal grants and loans, and Federal Work-Study funds. If you are selected for a merit-based scholarship through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, it will be included in the financial aid award. (Early Decision applicants are generally notified of any merit-based scholarship awards in the spring.)
Institutional aid funds are limited, so it is extremely important to submit the annual financial aid applications on time. Students accepted to Johns Hopkins must reapply for financial aid each year. Your aid package covers one academic year and is renewable if you are making satisfactory academic progress, your family’s financial situation remains the same, the number of dependents in college stays the same, and you reapply by the deadline.
