HA 371.304.31 History of Art: Landscape Photography (3 credits)
Instructors: Phyllis Berger & Howard Ehrenfeld
The Burren College of Art, located in a medieval castle on Ireland’s
Atlantic coast, serves as the base for this photography course.
While there, students explore a land of jaw dropping beauty and
history: with rocks and seas, ancient forts and megalithic tombs,
rare flowers and marine life.
Fundamentals of the Digital SLR are covered as well as image
correction and manipulation in Photoshop. Students will have
many opportunities to work one-on-one with their instructors and
will exhibit their work in a group show. Each student will be given
a Nikon Digital D40 SLR to use while in Ireland. There is a black
and white darkroom for those students who wish to work with
film. It is recommended that students bring a laptop computer.
While living in the coastal town of Balleyvaughn, students will
experience a rich culture filled with music, poetry and storytelling.
Weekend excursions to nearby cities provide further opportunities
for photographic exploration.
