The Burren College of Art, located in a medieval castle on Ireland’s Atlantic coast, serves as the base for this photography course. While there, students explore a land of jaw-dropping beauty and history, with rocks and seas, ancient forts and megalithic tombs, rare flowers and marine life.

HISTORY OF ART: PROGRAM IN LONDON

Dates: May 28 – June 16, 2011
Application and Deposit Deadline: April 1

Ever wondered about a career in the art world? What happens beind the scenes in a museum? Spend three intensive weeks in London discovering the artistic riches of one of the world's most innovative, international, and exclusive centers of art. This course serves an overview of key works in the history of art with a special focus on the period of the Renaissance, modern, and contemporary. Students will explore major art collections and monuments, as well as intimate galleries and auction houses, and meet with various experts in the field. The changing role of the museum will also be addressed.

PUBLIC HEALTH STUDIES : PROGRAM IN CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

Dates: June 11- July 25, 2011 (tentative)

The Program in Public Health Studies at The Johns Hopkins University offers a 7-week Summer Program in Cape Town, South Africa at the University of Cape Town. Students will take 2 courses for 6 academic credits:
- One course will focus on Public Health in South Africa, including material on the political climate, health care services, and the impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. This course will be taught by a faculty member of the University of Cape Town School of Public Health and Family Medicine.
- The other course will be a community-based learning course which includes reflection sessions and a 3-day a week internship with a local NGO. This component will be co-facilitated by an experienced community liaison and Ms.
Lisa Folda of the JHU PHS Program office. All transportation to and from these sites will be arranged for the students.

Each course will include local speakers and field trips that build on the content of the course, such as a township tour, a visit to Parliament, and museums.

To be considered for the Public Health Cape Town Summer Program, students must complete this application and return it with an unofficial transcript and a deposit of $300.00 (payable to Johns Hopkins University) to: Office of Study Abroad, Levering Hall 04B.
Applications and deposits are due February 25, 2011.
