I have a relative or friend who wants to visit me. Can I have overnight guests?
Overnight visits by a friend or family member of the same gender as the hosting student must be approved in advance by the Residential Life Coordinator. Visitors are not encouraged during the week, as students will be extremely busy with academic work and extracurricular activities.
What if I want to visit family and friends outside of JHU?
Parents must request permission 24 hours in advance if their student plans an overnight visit to friends or relatives in the Baltimore area. Please provide the names, contact information, and dates of the visit in your written parental request. When leaving the campus of the Johns Hopkins University during the day or evening, students are required to notify a Resident Advisor by signing out and in upon their departure and return to campus.
Will I have access to a telephone?
Most students bring a cell phone with them, but our residence hall rooms are equipped with telephones. Students will be informed of their telephone number upon arrival at Hopkins. These phones cannot call outside of the University, but can receive all incoming calls, except collect calls. Pay phones for outside calls are available in the residence halls.
What if my friends and family want to send me a care package?
All mail to students should be addressed as follows:
Student's Name
Summer 2008 Pre-college Programs
Johns Hopkins University
AMR II Housing Office
3400 N. Charles Street
Baltimore, Maryland 21218-2691
What if there is an emergency and my family cannot get in touch with me?
