Keep, your purse, wallet, keys, and other small, valuable items with
you at all times or locked in a drawer or closet.

• Politely ask any strangers who may come into your office who they are,
whom they are visiting, and see if you can help in finding that person. If
this makes you feel uncomfortable, inform security about your suspicions.

• Avoid using stairs in remote sections of the building.

Let someone know where you’ll be, whether it’s coming in late, working
late, or going out to lunch or a meeting.

• Be discreet. Don’t advertise you or your co-worker’s plans for being
away to visitors you don’t know or people calling your place of work.
Report broken or flickering lights, dimly lit corridors, doors and windows
that are broken, or don’t close or lock properly. Don’t assume someone
  else will do it.

• After hours—Create a buddy system for walking to parking lots or
public transportation or call security to escort you.

• Call for campus security if anyone or anything causes you apprehension.

• Program your cell phone to dial security, 410-516-7777, for campus   emergencies and 911 for off campus emergencies.

• Have to work late? Make sure there are others in the building, and ask   someone—a colleague or security guard—to walk you to your car or
  bus stop.

• Emergency phones provide a direct line to Security. When walking on
campus and an emergency occurs use the Emergency Phones and press
  the red button.
